Switchable Window Films
Switchable film is manufactured with a self adheisive layer to one side making it easy to apply to glass. Simple ON / OFF mode switches the film from being clear (transparent) to frosted (transclusent). In its frosted state, the film acts as an electronic blind providing privacy and removing distraction. It is ideal for using for security for any glass, partition or window.
Switchable window film is perfect for environments where rooms occasionally need to be made private such as offices, medical rooms, educational settings and even homes.
The film consists of a layer of liquid crystals which is sandwiched between a transparent film. When a small electrical current is applied to the crystal layer, it causes the liquid crystals to align in one direction allowing visible light to pass through, making the glass transparent. When the electric current is switched off, the liquid crystals move in all directions, blocking the gaps for visible light to pass through and making the glass opaque (translucent).
Solar Control Films
Solar control films are designed to absorb and reflect sun energy. They can be used in any environment such as offices and homes where there might be a need to eliminate cold/hot spots and reduce UV filtration.
Solar window films are available in a range of grades, allowing various levels of UV through the film. We offer installation of the solar films or we can supply it for customers to arrange installation themselves.
This helps to:
– Reduce heat – Solar control window films prevent steady heat build up when the sun is directly shining on glass. This results in a more stable, moderate room temperature. The film reflects away the suns energy before it enters the room, making it an effective solution to keeping temperature down but not obscuring views and light levels like a blind or curtain would.
– Reduce glare – Glare can be a big problem in offices with screen or projectors. An application of solar control window film will cut down on the glare, whilst maintinaing the view and without sacrificing too much natural light.
– Reduce UV filtration and fading of furniture – Solar control film can block out up to 99% of the suns harmful UV rays, solar film will therefore help combat fading of furniture and fabrics.
– Increase energy efficiency – By reducing excess heat levels, solar window film can help reduce the strain on air conditioning units, reducing in lower running costs and better for the environment.
Safety / Security Films
Safety and security glass films are added to glass to improve the safety in an environment. A film is normally applied to glass to strengthen it.
Security film is available in a range of thicknesses from a standard film to a bomb-blast protection standard. The film strengthens the glass to allow more impact, deterring intruders and also protecting against damage. If the glass is broken, the security film holds the glass together keeping it in the frame making harder for intruders to enter. If glass was accidentally damaged the film also provides safety by preventing broken glass or shards of glass falling and causing injury.
Security film can also be used to block vision into premises by obscuring the glass, therefore hiding the contents of the space from potential intruders meaning there is less likely to be attempted burglaries.

Privacy Films
Privacy films are designed to increase privacy for both business and home use. These can be frosted, tinted, one-way daytime privacy film or printed to obscure vision through glass. They can be plain or decorative depending on the environment and preference.
There are two main types of using films on glass to create privacy. These are full time two-way privacy films which would day or night obscure vision into and out of a window. This could be done in a range of ways such as using frost or etch film, printed graphics or tints.
The other type is daytime one-way privacy which would allow people inside a building to see outside during the day time, but from the outside the glass would be reflective.
